Coronavirus:

Effective Monday, March 30, 2020, Montgomery County Offices will be closed to the public. In an abundance of caution, the Montgomery County Commission voted to close county offices through Thursday, April 30, 2020 to protect both employees and residents. Although offices are physically closed, county services are still readily available.

Montgomery County is taking all necessary steps in regards to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Effective Wednesday, March 18, 2020, Montgomery County Offices will be closed to the public. In an abundance of caution, the Montgomery County Commission voted to close county offices through Tuesday, March 31, 2020 to protect both employees and residents. Although offices are physically closed, county services are still readily available.

Business which can be completed without visiting in-person:

Voter Registration - Register to vote and ensure you are registered by visiting the Secretary of State's website.

Court Filings - Court filings may be mailed to P.O. Box 1667, Montgomery, AL 36102

 

Absentee Voting - Call 832-1281 or email montgomerycircuitclerk@alacourt.gov

Tag Renewals - Tags may be renewed online. For online tag renewal information, call 832-1234.
 

 
Business Licenses - Business licenses may be renewed via mail. Please call 832-1248 for license fee and account number information. To process a new business license, you may download the business license application by visiting here.

Marriage - Marriage affidavits may be recorded via mail. Upon receipt of the notarized affidavit and $78.50 recording fee, a certified copy will be mailed to the return address provided. For more information, please call 832-1235.

Recording - Documents may be recorded via e-file. For questions regarding e-file, please call 832-1249.

Property Taxes - Paying property taxes can be completed online through the Citizen Access Portal. This portal also allows you to view property amounts, search maps, and email questions or concerns. Important Message Regarding Late Payment Waivers: The Department of Revenue is waiving some state sales tax late payment penalties both for small retail businesses, whose monthly retail sales during the previous calendar year averaged $62,500 or less, and taxpayers currently registered with the Department as engaging in NAICS Sector 72 business activities, which includes restaurants. The Department is also waiving some state late payment penalties for lodgings taxes. For more information, visit the Alabama Department of Revenue website.

Sales, Use and Lodging Taxes - Montgomery County Sales, Use and Lodging Taxes can be filed online through the Alabama Department of Revenue One Spot MAT System.

Gasoline and Motor Fuel Taxes - Montgomery County Gasoline and Motor Fuel Taxes can be filed online through the ADOR Motor Fuel Single Point System

Rental Taxes - Montgomery County Rental Taxes can be filed via mail at Montgomery County Commission Tax & Audit Department, P.O. Box 4779, Montgomery, AL 36103.
