Effective Monday, March 30, 2020, Montgomery County Offices will be closed to the public. In an abundance of caution, the Montgomery County Commission voted to close county offices through Thursday, April 30, 2020 to protect both employees and residents. A Division of The Montgomery County Revenue Commissioner's Office

compass_roseThe mission of the Montgomery County GIS and Cadastral Mapping Department is to work in partnership with county agencies to provide accurate, consistent, accessible and comprehensive GIS data, GIS infrastructure, and GIS services to support the GIS needs of Montgomery County and the citizens we serve. The division fulfills the roles of manager and custodian of Montgomery County's spatial data, GIS software licensing, data management and GIS support services.

A GIS (Geographic Information System) provides the ability to visualize and analyze relationships between geographic locations and information associated with those locations. Cadastral maps provide a comprehensive register of the extent, value and ownership of land. Cadastral and/or parcel data layers are an integral part of the foundation of Montgomery County's GIS. They are also an essential part of the assessment/appraisal process. According to the United States Bureau of Land Management, cadastral maps “deal with one of the oldest and most fundamental facets of human society - the ownership of land.”
