Major Sallie Foster has received the National Sheriff’s Association Correctional/Jail Innovation Award for her outstanding achievement in implementing the I.G.N.I.T.E. (Inmate Growth Naturally and Intentionally Through Education) program in the Montgomery County Detention Facility. I.G.N.I.T.E. provides inmates with educational courses and training that enhance opportunities for post-incarceration.
She was also recognized for her efforts in facilitating the Family Support in the MCDF, which provides family members of inmates with assistance in connecting to social services, childcare assistance, mental health treatment and other beneficial programs that help families in need.
Major Foster received her award at the National Sheriff’s Association annual summer conference held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida this past week.
