E911/Rural Addressing

How does an emergency vehicle find me in rural Montgomery County?

In 1996, under the direction of the Montgomery County Commission, Montgomery County, Alabama began a "Rural Addressing Project".  This project was undertaken to convert rural route and box addresses to street-style addresses for location identification and mailing addresses.  The Appraisal Department, working with Network Design Engineering and M.S.A.G. 911 Data Consultants, completed and implemented the new addressing system in August, 1999.

To date, all residents of Montgomery County should have and be using their street-style address. These addresses are vital to residents, as they are tied to the E-911 system and residents/businesses phone numbers.  With these addresses, emergency response time should be reduced significantly.  Each address is shown on computerized maps in the Sheriff's Dispatch office and in map books in the possession of all deputies and Volunteer Fire Departments.  Eventually these maps will be provided to all ambulance companies as well.  Response time to 911 calls has been drastically reduced according to the Sheriff's Office and emergency response personnel.

In addition to providing better emergency response these addresses will provide rural residents with better delivery services, such as UPS, Federal Express, etc.

County residents are required to have their 911 address in order to acquire phone service, power and other utilities.

If you are building a new home, moving a mobile home or just moving into and existing structure outside the police jurisdiction in Montgomery County, please call our office at (334) 832-7711 to get your correct 911 address.

Map books can be purchased for $50.00 by calling the number above.
