I65 Traveling South

Exit 172 (Clay street exit).  Turn  left on Herron Street.  Herron Street  will change to Madison Avenue.  Turn right on Lawrence Street.  Go 3 blocks.  The Courthouse Annex is located at the corner of Washington Street and Lawrence Street on the right.

I65 Traveling North

Exit 172 (Herron Street exit). Herron Street  will change to Madison Avenue.  Turn right on Lawrence Street.  Go 3 blocks.  The Courthouse Annex is located at the corner of Washington Street and Lawrence Street on the right.

I85 Traveling South 

Exit at Exit 1 (Union Street). Follow Union Street to Washington Avenue. Turn left on Washington Avenue. Go 5 blocks.  Courthouse Annex is located at the left corner of Washington Street and Lawrence Street.

State/county business licenses are valid for a fiscal year, October 1 through September 30.  Licenses must be renewed by November 1 to avoid penalties and interest charges.

Most licenses must be obtained in the county where the business is located. However, some businesses are exempt and are not required to be licensed at the State/county. A determination of exemption may be made by the Business License Section of the Probate Office.  The State of Alabama Business
