The Revenue Commissioner is elected a six-year term and is responsible for the Mapping, Appraisal, Assessment and Collection of all real and business personal property.
The Revenue Commissioner's office maintains records of all property in Montgomery County. Property records reveal ownership, market value, location and descriptions.
The Revenue Commissioner is responsible for granting exemptions from taxes, collecting, and disbursing taxes to the State of Alabama, County Commission, School Board, City of Montgomery, Forestry and Volunteer Fire Departments. The Revenue Commissioner's Office also maintains records of manufactured mobile homes for both ad valorem tax and registration decals.
The Revenue Commissioner is also responsible for the redemption of property for non-payment of tax and tax sale property.
