Meet Janet Buskey 

 

 

Janet Buskey Janet Buskey has more than 20 years experience as a professional government auditor. Ms. Buskey has a background in financial and legal compliance auditing, with an emphasis in interpreting federal and state rules and regulations and determining agency compliance. Janet is experienced in developing, evaluating, and implementing standardized policies and procedures. Ms. Buskey spent the first 7 ½ years of her career in public administration as an Accounts Examiner with the State of Alabama Department of Examiners of Public Accounts, State Audit Division, where she performed and supervised single audits of State agencies. She worked for more than 14 years with the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services where she served as the Department’s Internal Auditor in charge of Internal Audit Services. After that Janet worked for Lieutenant Governor Jim Folsom, Jr. as Community Outreach Director.

Ms. Buskey received a Bachelor of Science in Commerce and Business Administration with a major in Accounting from the University of Alabama in 1985. In 1996, Janet was certified as a Government Financial Manager through the Association of Government Accountants. She earned a Master of Public Administration from Auburn University Montgomery in 2003. She also received a Certificate in Nonprofit Management and Leadership. Ms. Buskey was selected as the Outstanding Graduate Student by the Department of Political Science and Public Administration in 2003.

Ms. Buskey has served on several nonprofit Boards such as the Janice Capilouto Center for the Deaf-Easter Seals, Family Sunshine Center, and Alabama Rehabilitation Association. She served as president of the Montgomery AIDS Outreach, Inc. Board of Directors. Ms. Buskey currently serves on the Easter Seals Alabama, Inc. Board of Directors and the Family Sunshine Center Advisory Board. She is also a member of various professional, social, and political organizations such as the Alabama State Employees Association, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

Ms. Buskey resides in Montgomery, Alabama. Her involvement in community and civic affairs have been a vital part of her life since an early age. She credits her parents, the late Rep. John L. Buskey and Essie V. Buskey, for instilling in her the value of working hard to achieve goals and the importance of giving back to the community. She is a member of First Congregational Christian Church, UCC.
