Welcome from Judge Reese McKinney
Hello Friends,
Let me be the first to welcome you to your new Probate Office website. I hope that you will find this website to be a useful resource as you interact with the various Probate Office Divisions. We have attempted to streamline and organize this website in a manner that makes it not only useful, but also user-friendly. I will mention, however, that the website is a work in progress and you should check back periodically for changes and updates.
As you know, the Probate Office is responsible for various functions within our government. Regardless of what brings you to the Probate Office, our professional staff members are dedicated to providing you with the highest level of customer service. In order to better acquaint you with the Probate Office, I will mention just a few of the services that we provide to the citizens of Montgomery County.
The Probate Court handles a variety of proceedings, including adoptions, conservatorships, guardianships, name changes, involuntary mental commitments, and wills and estates.
Our Archives and Recording Center is responsible for the recordation and maintenance of records relating to marriages, property, businesses, as well as other historical documents and data.
In Montgomery County, the Probate Judge is responsible for issuing various licenses required by law, including business licenses, drivers licenses, hunting and fishing licenses, and marriage licenses. The Probate Office is also responsible for issuing tags for automobiles and boats.
In addition, the Probate Judge is the county’s Chief Election Official. In this capacity, the Probate Judge is responsible for the recruitment and training of polling officials, the maintenance of polling places within the county, and technical and administrative support on Election Day.
If you have questions or need additional information on any of the services offered by your Probate Office, please feel free to contact us. I hope you enjoy our new website, and I hope you will check back often for changes and updates.
Sincerely,

Reese McKinney
Judge of Probate
