Meet the Montgomery County District Attorney 

 

    




 

 






    Ellen Brooks is a native of Montgomery County, Alabama. She attended Vanderbilt University and the University of Alabama School of Law where she was awarded a J. D. Degree in 1976.  She has served as the District Attorney of Montgomery County since 1993.
 
    
    
    Ms. Brooks began her career in prosecution in 1977. After completing her clerkship at the Supreme Court of Alabama, she became a Deputy District Attorney in the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office. She was appointed as Director for the White Collar Crime Unit in 1981 and became the Chief Deputy District Attorney in 1983. In 1991 she was appointed as Deputy Attorney General for the State of Alabama.
   

     
Ms. Brooks was selected District Attorney of the Year in 1999 by the Alabama District Attorneys Investigators Association and is a past President of the Alabama District Attorneys Association.  She is well known in Montgomery County and throughout the State of Alabama for her professional involvement and her positive contributions to the legal and judicial professions. She is an active leader in the community and her church.
