Meet the Montgomery County District Attorney

Welcome to the official website for the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.  Ellen Brooks is the District Attorney and the chief law enforcement officer for Montgomery County, Fifteenth Judicial Circuit.

 

The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office is committed to the concept of “doing the right thing”. Our dedicated and diverse staff prides itself on seeking justice for all victims. 

 

We believe in addressing the underlying issues that cause the majority of individuals to commit crimes including but not limited to, lack of an education, lack of a marketable skills and illegal substance abuse. 

 

This approach also means punishing with the purpose of making sure low-level offenders become law-abiding citizens.  More importantly our Pre-Trial Diversion, Drug Court and Helping Montgomery Families Initiative programs help individuals become productive members of society. This means we are doing what we can from a prosecution perspective to ensure offenders do not create new victims. Being “smart on crime” means we can lower the crime and recidivism rates, and in doing so protect the citizens of Montgomery County.
